Mobile applications, SMS, interactive voice response, social media, video platforms, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things devices, remote sensing, and digital decision-support systems enable timely communication on crop management, weather, pests, diseases, irrigation, markets, and farm inputs. These technologies also support two-way interaction, allowing farmers to share field observations, photographs, and production challenges with extension professionals. Artificial intelligence and data analytics can further facilitate personalized and location-specific advisory services. Despite their potential, challenges such as digital illiteracy, poor connectivity, language barriers, information reliability, affordability, and data privacy require attention. Integrating digital tools with human expertise and participatory approaches can create inclusive, responsive, and farmer-centred extension systems that strengthen agricultural knowledge, decision-making, productivity, and resilience.
