Beneficial insects are important components of agricultural ecosystems, providing natural pest control, pollination, decomposition, and ecological balance. Predators such as ladybird beetles, lacewings, predatory bugs, mantids, and dragonflies help regulate populations of aphids, caterpillars, thrips, mites, and other crop pests. Parasitoids, including Trichogramma, braconid, and ichneumonid wasps, suppress pests by developing on or inside their hosts. Pollinators such as bees, butterflies, moths, and hoverflies contribute to fruit and seed production. Conservation of these insects can reduce dependence on chemical pesticides and strengthen integrated pest management.
